The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) is currently developing a criteria for Petroleum Licensing in the Internal Waters of Northern Ireland (the Plan). The plan will provide a framework for how petroleum licensing will be undertaken in the internal waters of Northern Ireland. For the purposes of the plan, the internal waters are defined as Belfast Lough and Larne Lough, specifically the areas extending from the Mean High Water Mark to the Bay Closing Line in each Lough.
A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the Plan is being undertaken by AECOM on behalf of DETI.
The SEA will enable a better understanding of the environmental impacts of the Plan and will inform the Plan as it develops. The SEA will also provide more information on the potential environmental effects of the Plan to inform the public consultation process.
This website will allow stakeholders and the public to keep up-to-date with the progress of the SEA and act as a gateway to SEA reports, mapping and other information of interest – particularly as the project enters its consultation phase.
The website was last updated on the 24th April 2013. It is been updated to make the Scoping Report publicly available, further information is available in the Scoping Report part of the website.
